Our Commitment to Honesty and Transparency
We’re committed to honesty and transparency especially when money is involved. This page explains how we monetize Indoor Plant Care Guide and how we ensure our content remains unbiased and trustworthy.
Our Philosophy
We believe plant care advice should be free and accessible to everyone. We also believe in being transparent about how we keep this site running. We pay for hosting, tools, and our team. To do that, we may use advertising and affiliate marketing.
Our rule is simple: We will never let money influence what we write. Our recommendations are based on what’s best for you and your plants not what’s best for our wallet
Advertising
Currently: We do not display ads.
In the future: We may run ads through Google AdSense or any other advertising agency. If we do:
- We will only display ads that are relevant and not misleading
- We will not accept clickbait or deceptive ads
- Ads will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Advertisement”
- Ads will never influence our editorial content or product recommendations
- Ads will never appear in product reviews, care guides, or safety-related content
Affiliate Marketing
Currently: We do not use affiliate links.
In the future: If we recommend products, we may include affiliate links (such as Amazon Associates). If we do:
- We will only recommend products we would use ourselves
- We will test products before recommending them
- We will disclose affiliate relationships clearly in every article and product review (e.g., “As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases”)
- Affiliate commissions will not affect our editorial opinion or recommendation
- We will recommend products based on merit and usefulness, not commission amounts
- Affiliate links are implemented in compliance with FTC guidelines and local regulations
Special Standards for Safety-Sensitive Products
Plant care involves your home, your pets, and your children. For recommendations involving:
- Pesticides and chemical treatments
- Fertilizers and amendments
- Plant species with toxicity concerns
- Products marketed for pet/child safety
We will NOT use affiliate links. Safety claims are not for sale. Period.
On these topics, our recommendations are based purely on efficacy, safety, and your wellbeing with zero financial incentive.
Sponsored Content
Currently: We do not accept sponsored posts or paid reviews.
In the future: If we accept sponsored content:
- It will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership”
- We will maintain complete editorial independence
- We will not accept content that contradicts our values or misleads readers
- We will not accept sponsorships for products we wouldn’t recommend on merit
- All sponsor relationships will be disclosed clearly
- Sponsored content will never appear in our main care guides or safety-related content
Product Reviews & Recommendations
If we review or recommend a product, we will:
- Use and test the product ourselves (when possible)
- Be honest about both pros and cons
- Disclose any affiliate relationship or financial incentive
- Base our recommendation on the product’s merit and usefulness
- Never accept payment for a positive review
- Never remove a negative review for payment
How We Handle Affiliate Links
When we include an affiliate link:
- We disclose it at the top of the article “This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a small commission if you purchase through these links, but this doesn’t affect our recommendation.”
- We explain why we chose the product merit-based reasoning, not commission-based
- We test it ourselves before recommending, not after
- We’re honest about alternatives including non-affiliate options if they’re better
Affiliate Links Never Appear On:
- Toxicity and safety content
- Pest control guides (especially pesticide recommendations)
- Rare/advanced plant care guides where safety is a concern
- Content involving pets or children
- Plant care basics or foundational guides
These topics are too important to mix with financial incentives.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial content is guided by your interests, not our wallet.
Advertisers, affiliates, and sponsors have no influence over:
- What we write
- What we recommend
- Which products we review
- How we cover controversial or risky plant care topics
- Our safety claims or toxicity warnings
We will never:
- Accept payment for a positive review
- Remove a negative review for payment
- Let advertisers or affiliates dictate our content
- Compromise our expertise for financial gain
- Recommend a product primarily because of affiliate commission
Transparency with Readers
We believe in being upfront with our readers about every financial relationship:
- All affiliate links will be disclosed in the article text and/or at the beginning of the article
- All sponsored content will be labeled clearly as “Sponsored”
- All paid partnerships will be clearly communicated upfront
- Our correction and editorial policies remain unchanged no financial incentive affects our accuracy standards

How We Fund This Site
As of August 2026, Indoor Plant Care Guide is entirely self-funded. We do not yet have advertising revenue or affiliate partnerships.
When we do monetize in the future (through Google AdSense and selective affiliate partnerships), we will:
- Announce it clearly on this page and in our About Us
- Maintain these standards advertising and affiliate commissions will never influence content quality or recommendations
- Keep safety-sensitive content affiliate-free toxicity, pest control, and safety guidance will never include affiliate links
- Disclose every financial relationship you’ll always know when we’re earning money from something we recommend
- Monitor compliance closely we review our affiliate practices quarterly to ensure no conflicts arise
